Strategic Planning
It's been said that "no one plans to fail, we simply fail to plan." All too often this is the case when it comes to economic development. That's why every community needs a strategic plan. It's a roadmap by which you pursue your economic development efforts.

Why do I need a plan?
Cities that actively participate in economic development, grow. They experience an increase in the standard of living and quality of life for their citizens. This growth translates into a larger tax base to pay for the ever-increasing cost of infrastructure and public safety. That's why cities plan!

Where are we going?
Not having a plan is like not using GPS. You have a pretty good idea of where you want to go, but you've not set a specific route. Why does that matter? Because it's easy to get lost along the way. When you formally adopt and approve a plan, it allows your leadership the chance to chart the course for their future.
Grow the "right way"
Leadership needs to understand where they are going and why. An economic development strategic plan is the path to the future version of your city you've always imagined. How a city grows is just as important as growth itself. The planning process employes a process designed to promote the "right growth."
